I had no idea that there was a difference between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 before this class. I had heard people reference Web 2.0 and I just figured it was an app or something. I had no idea it is the actual way we interact with the internet. I have grown up with computers and did not notice the transition from Web 1.0 to 2.0. Looking back, I know realize that there was a transition, but I was too young to comprehend the change. I remember playing Oregon Trail on (now ancient) Macs when I was in grade school. I forgot that you couldn’t share your score or chat with other players. It feels only natural to comment or leave reviews. I rely heavily on these reviews when buying online and get frustrated when there are none for the product that I am looking for. I am just discovering all the things that Web 2.0 has to offer such as blogs and podcasting. I think that it is a great way to get information out to people and stay connected. I look forward to learning more about the tools that are offered.
I agree that with an internet connection anyone can educate themselves. This is why I think that the expanding Wifi networks and free public libraries are vital to ensure that as many people as possible have access to this great resource.
