There is an expansive amount of apps and websites that make life easier. One of these features is Google Calendar. I use this extensively. Being an athletic trainer, my schedule changes and depends on the schedules of other people so this tool is amazing. Coaches and administrators can share their calendars with me and I have synced the calendar to my phone so I always know if a practice schedule or my schedule has changed. It also makes scheduling a breeze. With a few clicks of a button, I can mark off time for athletes’ rehab, physicals, or administration time. The people I have shared my calendar with can then easily see if and when I am available. I definitely think this tool has made me a more productive athletic trainer.
I have also used Google drive and find that this also comes in handy for scheduling. I have created a schedule spreadsheet that my sports medicine interns can sign up for hours. They all have access and can make changes at any time from any computer. This takes the hassle out of scheduling interns. If something comes up, an intern can change his or her schedule and I can instantly see the changes. I have also used the Drive to create forms that prospective interns can fill out through their email and the results are instantly compiled into a spreadsheet. This makes choosing interns a breeze because I can compare key requirements for a large number of people all on one spreadsheet. No more trying to find and print multiple email replies!
The last tool I use extensively is Pandora. Having music makes me more productive and I like the fact that I can choose stations that will be appropriate for the athletic training room. The best part is that I no longer have to suffer through those annoying morning shows!
