There is an expansive list of educational video sites. I usually just go to Youtube to find videos but there are many other sites that offer great opportunities for learning. The first site I looked at was Academic Earth. This site is amazing because it allows the viewer to watch lectures from actual universities for free. Some of the universities offered are Harvard, Columbia, Stanford, etc. This is such a great tool especially for a person who just wants to learn about a topic and does not care about getting a degree in that field.
Another site I looked at was EdX. This site is very similar to Academic Earth but it actually lets you take the courses from the universities and get a certificate of completion. This site is still free but involves more of a commitment. The advantage of this site is the certificate of completion. Having that is a great way to let employers know that you can perform the duties required even if you do not have the degree the employer is looking for. This is also a great way to stay current in a field. A person might have gotten a degree a couple decades ago and now the same job requires additional skills that were not taught at the time that person completed his or her degree. This site lets you get those skills for free and gives you proof that you have the skills.
The last site I looked at was Howcast. This is a site that offers how to videos on almost any topic on can think of. This would be a great resource for the classroom to offer visual instruction on something rather than trying to verbally explain it. It is also a nice source for everyday use in order to learn a new skill that can help the viewer in everyday life.
The site I use the most is Youtube. I use it to learn how to do new things (such as unclog my bathroom sink) to using it as a visual aid in presentations. I like that Youtube can be informational but also very fun. Below I have embedded a video that shows exactly what the career of athletic training is all about. I like to show people thus video because it is not only funny but also is very informative.
